Overview

A rugged half back born in Ayrshire at Muirkirk on April 9th 1883, Alex, known as Tug, was playing in Lanarkshire with Newmains Thistle then Cambuslang Rangers before he went on trial with Morton, this on 7th January 1905. Two days later Celtic signed him, it is said in error as it was the another A. Wilson (Andy) that they were after. He returned to his native county on loan with Ayr FC in 1905 and 1906 before he was taken on at Rugby Park in July 1907.

Eighteen months later Accies signed him and he gave many a fine display while at Douglas Park. A very skilful individual. Could play anywhere in the half back division.

Debut on 24th October 1908 in a Scottish League match away to Port Glasgow Athletic.
