CHRISTIE, Alex (1914)
Overview
Came from Larkhall Thistle in Sept 1914. Despite his undoubted ability he found it hard to displace Jamie Stewart and Archie Kyle, two experienced campaigners, from either of the inside forward positions. A clever performer when given the chance.
He served with the Royal Navy during the First World War. When it was over he joined Reading in August 1919. He then moved to the Midlands to play for Walsall. A bit of a rover was Larkie boy, Alex, in 1922 he was with Southampton. The following year saw him with Norwich City. then he moved to Rochdale where he made 137 appearances in the League with 5 goals between 1924 and 1927. He then joined Exeter City for a brief spell in 1928. His last known club was Aldershot.
Born in Glasgow on 27th June 1896. His death occurred in 1981.
