DALY, Pat (1945)

Overview

Small in stature, but he had a big heart. He joined Hamilton in 1944 from the now out of business, Maryhill Harp, as a wing half. Though not very tall he also turned out at centre half as well as at inside forward.

With the club struggling to adjust after the war, Pat was one of the early post war heroes. He was soon to be unhappy and asked away on a number of occasions. His wish was finally granted and in 1947 he moved to Morton. Within the next three years he was with Clyde and Ayr United.

Pat was a brickie, working in the kilns in the steelworks during the Second World War.

Debut on 2nd January 1945 in a Southern League match away to Heart of Midlothian.
