GILMOUR, George (1934)

Overview

George was signed in October 1934 from Arniston Rangers. On his debut he scored after only 5 minutes into the match, it was reported that “he showed promise, though not yet League class”. A very skilful individual who sometimes was a bit over elaborate in his work.

When Willie McLaren was injured and unable to play in the Scottish Cup Semi Final versus Aberdeen at Celtic Park, in March 1935, George took his place. In his first season from 8 League games, he scored 6 goals. Not a bad ratio. He moved to Falkirk in July 1938 for a £600 transfer fee.

He was 5’9” and tipped the scales at 10sts 12lbs.

Debut on 27th October 1934 in a Scottish League match at home to Kilmarnock.
