PATERSON, Danny (1922)

Overview

As a junior he played with Cadzow St Anne’s and Cambuslang Rangers, however it was from League side, King’s Park, that he came to Douglas Park in 1922 where he performed well at outside left. He was one of two Accies players who were in a Lanarkshire Select against Motherwell on 30th April 1923 in a Benefit Match for the Fir Park goalkeeper, John Rundell.

In October 1923 he joined Alloa Athletic. His next move took him to Falkirk in February 1925 and there he stayed until Kilmarnock came for him in September of 1928. He was a fast and nippy winger and was unlucky to miss out on the 1929 Cup Final with Kilmarnock due to illness.

Ballymena United then arranged for a move to Ireland. He was among a number of Scots who joined Dublin Dolphins in 1931. In Ireland he prolonged his career by two years prior to a return to his native shore in July 1933 to appear with Dundee. In January 1934 his final move was the short journey to Brechin City.
