McLAREN, Frank (1912)

Overview

In 1905 while with Earnock Rovers Frank played for Accies in a friendly against Motherwell at Douglas Park on 4th January. The previous year, in November, he was chosen to represent the Lanarkshire Junior League versus Ireland in a match at Motherwell which ended 1-1. He was a centre half. With Heart of Midlothian prior to his move to Accies in 1912.

A Burnbank man, he was an asset to Accies where he often appeared at wing half, as he helped to bring out the best in Willie McNamee who was still learning the ropes as a centre half. Frank was a solid, no holds barred individual. While with the Tynecastle club he won a Scottish Cup Winners medal against Third Lanark in 1906 while the following year they lost 3-0 to Celtic and he was once again at centre half.

Debut on 12th October 1912 in a Scottish League match at home to Hibernian.
