Accies Career

Overview

Joe was one of those players who always seemed to play well against Hamilton. Not big as far as centre forwards go, he was only 5' 8". Alloa signed him from Bathgate Thistle in 1955. While at Recreation Park he gave Accies defenders a busy time and when Andy Paton signed him in 1958 to bolster the side in their quest for promotion, it seemed a good move. After scoring four goals in his twelve outings and with promotion only a dream he was given a free at the end of the season.

On leaving Alloa in 1957, Joe had been transferred to Wrexham, after eight goalless matches he returned north to Stirling Albion and it was from them that he came to Hamilton.

Born In Glasgow on 10th January 1931.

Debut on 22nd November 1958 in a Scottish League fixture at home to Ayr United which was drawn 0-0.
