Overview

An amateur who was with Queen's Park then Third Lanark before joining Accies in 1945. He was an inside right and was one of the more regular performers that season. The club struggled and he left at the season’s close.

Signed from Shawfield Juniors, he made his senior debut with Queen’s Park in August 1939 when he netted one of the two goals against Airdrieonians. War broke out a month later and he continued to play for them for most of the war years appearing in 117 League matches and scoring 30 times in the process.

Following his year at Douglas Park he returned to Hampden for another two years during which time he made another 56 League outings and added a further 26 goals to his tally.

In 1948 he was in the British Olympic team which lost 5-3 to Denmark in London. By the time Amateur International matches resumed in 1949 he had left the scene, otherwise he would probably been capped at that level. He died in Glasgow on June 6th 2000.

Debut on 11th August 1945 in a Southern League match at home to Partick Thistle.
