An Englishman who came to Accies just before the start of season 1919-20. At the end of the season he was a member of the Hamilton side which was presented with the Lanarkshire Cup following their victory over Albion Rovers at Fir Park before an attendance of 6,000. When signed he was aged 26.

His previous clubs included Eccesfield Bible Class, Millwall Athletic, Hastings and St Leonard’s, Goole Town, Huddersfield Town, Hull City, Stoke City and South Shields.

He commenced his Accies career as a right half, and when necessary he played many a fine game as centre half. During the 1922 close season he decided to return to England where he joined Halifax Town. There he was made captain of the side and turned out in 117 League fixtures for them before signing for Rochdale. Later with non League, Consett. A big loss to Accies.

He was born in Ecclesfield, Sheffield on 22nd June 1889 and he died in Loughborough in 1949.

He was 5’10” and scaled at 11sts 10lbs.

Debut on August 16th 1919 away to St Mirren in a Scottish League fixture.
