LAWRIE, George (1920)

Overview

A close season signing from Rutherglen Glencairn in 1920. He was a clever inside forward who was one of the stars of the reserve eleven which played in the Western League in 1920-21.

On leaving Hamilton he was signed by Bo’ness in 1921 where he turned out for them in the newly formed Second Division. Collected a Scottish Junior Cup Winners medal in 1919 when Glencairn defeated St Anthony’s 1-0 in front of 38,000 fans at Hampden.

Well built at 5’10” and weighing 11st 7lbs. Aged 24.

Debut on 25th September 1920 at Firhill versus Partick Thistle in a Scottish League match which ended 1-1.
