Overview

Hutton made his debut for Queen's Park at home to Motherwell on 28th September 1930 but it was sixteen years later before he turned out for Accies for the first time. He had been at Motherwell between his time at Hampden and moving to Aberdeen for where Jimmy McStay persuaded him to parade his skills at Hamilton. Said to have been at non-league Stranraer also before coming to Hamilton.

He was honoured by the Scottish League on one occasion, when he played against the Irish League in 1935. That same year he was in receipt of the last of his six caps as an amateur, the first being given in 1931. A talented player who was really too late in coming to Accies as they were already well adrift at the bottom of the First Division when he arrived.

A long career ended on 15th February 1947 at Douglas Park versus Clyde. He could play in any of the inside forward positions. While at Motherwell he played alongside his brother, Gordon. On retiring, Hutton coached Kirkintilloch Rob Roy. He was later a Director with a tyre company.

Born in Cathcart in 1912. He died in 1969 at the age of 57.

Debut on 10th August 1946 in a Scottish League match away to Partick Thistle in a 4-1 defeat.
