NEW ASSET

Due to his excellent school marks Mitch Cartwright was allowed to buy a brand new baseball glove from his parents Adam and Sally Cartwright.

Adam said to his eldest son, “Just on the internet which glove you like and want to have.”

“Make your bank account empty just in case”, reacted the nine year old Cartwright.

Mitch went to surf and saw quite soon enough gloves. Finally op a beautiful crème colored glove caught his eye. The boy made the picture bigger by clicking on it and went then to his father.

“Daddy, I have found one that I want”, said Mitch.

The eldest Cartwright boy put his book down and walked along with his son. On the screen Adam saw the glove which Mitch really wanted to have.

“And how much does it cost?”, asked Adam.

“Something like 75 dollar. Or is that too expensive?”, Mitch asked carefully.

“No, but this is one for children of the age of 5, 6. But tomorrow we go to that store and we look if they are in your size too”, answered his father.

“Alright daddy”, said Mitch.

He closed the pc and went to play outside on the yard with the shepherd dog Cody. The two found it great that the younger brothers of Adam (Hoss and Little Joe) weren’t there because then they got constantly teased.

That evening Mitch went to bed early because Adam wanted to leave early. Hereby Adam and Sally had the place alone because their twins Lisa and Benji slept as well and the owner of the ranch, Ben Cartwright, was away with Hoss and Little Joe.

The following morning Adam took Mitch and Cody along to a very big sport store in Las Vegas. Cody laid like prince charming on the back seat while Adam drove and Mitch sat next to him.

“Is it far?”, asked Mitch.

“It is about 2½ hours driving. But we stop somewhere underway”, was het answer of Adam.

Mitch put an audio book in the CD-player and switched it on. Hereby the trip went faster.

Adam drove upon the parking lot of the sport store.

“Mitch, we are here. First we walk Cody and after that inside”, he said.

“Alright. Come Cody”, said the boy.

They got out and walked the dog.

Once in the store Mitch couldn’t believe his eyes. The whole ground floor was filled with baseball things. Quite soon the youngest Cartwright saw the glove of his choice. He tried it on and the glove was even a bit too big.

“Daddy, I want this one but it is too big”, said Mitch.

Adam checked the glove and answered, “You are still growing so in a while it will fit right.”

“Then I take this one. May I look around for a while?”, asked Mitch.

“Go on quickly”, Adam said smiling.

Mitch was away already and looked mainly by the souvenirs of the Yankees and the Braves. The decision was very difficult but finally he choose 2 jigsaws of his favorite baseball clubs. Adam and Cody came to get him.

“Made a decision?”, asked Adam.

“These jigsaws and little bats. May I get another ball for the twins?”, asked Mitch.

“I already wanted to do that. They have here a pink and blue baseball for little children”, said Adam.

They grabbed the things they wanted to buy and walked to the pay check. Adam paid while Mitch waited with Mitch met Cody.

As ending Adam took Mitch and Cody along to Burger King.

“Daddy, we do go more often to that store, don’t we?”, Mitch asked hopeful.

“Of course. But you can online order by them too”, Adam explained.

“Then I go and see what I want for my birthday”, said Mitch.

“Kid, it is June and your birthday is with Christmas”, said Adam.

“I do now that but then you can start saving for it already”, his son reacted.

“In your dreams!”, Adam said teasing.

He enjoyed of a few hours alone with his eldest child. Mitch himself found it also great that he had Adam for himself.

On the way home Adam said, “Kid, from now on we do this each month. Together we go away a day with Cody.”

“Great daddy”, said Mitch.

He was not only glad with this plan but also with his new asset.
