It was a nice day when the Devil’s Hole Gang got the idea to cause some commotion again. Kyle, the leader, came with it.

“Boys, we are rusting. Do you know what we are going to do?”, he asked.

“Tell”, said Wheat.

“We are going to rob a train near Rockville. But first we are going to collect Heyes and Curry”, replied Kyle.

He stopped with speaking for a second.

“Then we are going to show how to rob a train. And the loot is for us of course”, said the gang leader.

Everyone agreed.

“Where are Heyes and Curry actually?”, asked Wheat.

“I heard last they are in Rockville. We are going to look them up”, said Kyle.

They went away at once.

Meanwhile Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry were in Rockville to rest out from a tough chore. They had taken a hotel room which looked out at the street. During the day and evening the outlaws were in the saloon.

“Kid, I think that we stay here for a while”, Heyes said whispering.

“Good idea of you”, was the answer of Curry.

“I always have good ideas”, his partner remarked.

They stood at the bar and looked around the saloon. It was quiet for the time of day. Here and there a cowboy was drinking.

The next day the Devil’s Hole Gang saw the outlaws walking.

“Boys, look who we have there?”, riep Kyle called laughing.

The outlaws saw their former gang members and knew enough. The gang stopped by them.

“What are you doing here?”, Heyes asked cheerful.

“We come to get you”, said Kyle.

“For what? You can do best without us”, Curry said skeptic.

“Normally yes but we wants to show you something”, replied Wheat.

“I am curious what that is”, Heyes said curious.

“You won’t believe your eyes”, said Kyle.

“When will the disaster take place?”, Curry wanted to know.

Heyes too thought it was a funny question but the gang of course not.

“It is not going to be a disaster. At least not for us but for the owner of what we are going to rob”, Kyle replied laughing.

“Kyle, I was almost believing that you have plans to rob a bank”, Heyes said smiling.

“You are warm. We still have to work out our plans a bit better but we do it tomorrow”, said the gang leader.

“Tomorrow? Tomorrow is Sunday. Then everything is closed”, said Heyes.

Then a woman came to them.

“Mr Smith and Mr Jones. Are you taking your friends to church tomorrow too?”, asked Eva Baker.

“Of course Mrs baker. They love to go to church”, replied Heyes.

The gang members looked at each other amazed.

“See you tomorrow gentlemen”, said Eva.

She walked on.

“Hannibal Heyes! Have you lost your mind completely now? Going to church on Sunday morning. We do have better things to do”, Kyle said indignant.

“Kyle, we always can take along the collection”, said Wheat.

Kyle thought for a moment and started to smile then.

“We do that”, said the gang leader.

“See you tomorrow in church. The service starts at 9.30”, said Curry.

The gang rode out of town at once, being watched by the outlaws.

“Kid, I don’t trust them. They will cause trouble for sure”, Heyes said worried.

“There is a bank but there is no money there. Heyes, you don’t think that they are so stupid to rob an empty bank?”, asked Curry.

“You know that Kyle is up to everything. He would even rob his own mother from her wallet if she didn’t have any money with her”, replied Heyes.

Then he started to smile.

“Kid, we know that the bank is empty but they don’t. We are going to teach them a lesson”, he said.

The outlaws decided to look up their former gang members.

“Kyle, we are going to help you to get rich quickly”, said Heyes.

“And what do you want in return for that?”, asked Kyle.

“Nothing. We are friends for years, aren’t we?”, asked Curry.

“What do you want to do?”, asked Kyle.

“The bank has very much money in the safe right now. You can take it along just like that”, said Heyes.

“Kyle, that is easier than rob that train. Heyes opens that safe for us and we get the money”, said Wheat.

“We do that. But then we are going to rob the train”, the gang leader said laughing.

Heyes and Curry looked at each other questionable.

“Err, which train are you going to rob?”, Curry asked carefully.

“The first next train which comes by here”, replied Kyle.

“Good luck with it”, said Heyes.

“Are you going to join us?”, asked Wheat.

“You are the famous Devil’s Hole Gang, aren’t you? Then the support of Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry really not needed to rob a simple bank”, said Heyes.

“That is also true. Soon we are stinking rich and you are still as poor as a church-mouse again. But you may borrow some money from us for a nice interest of 100%”, said Kyle.

The outlaws left again.

By sheriff Ken Johnson the outlaws got to hear something very interesting.

“You have heard that the Devil’s Hole Gang has plans to rob the bank? Well, in that bank money is being kept which is no longer in roulation”, said the sheriff.

“So they have no money at all then?”, asked Curry.

“Nothing at all. But if they want to try to rob the bank I wish them a lot of luck”, said Ken.

“Thanks sheriff”, Heyes said where after he and Curry went away.

Not much later the Devil’s Hole Gang rode to the bank. Of course Heyes and Curry were waiting for this. But they kept in hiding. With a lot of commotion Kyle and Wheat went inside while the other gang members stood standing on the lookout.

“Wheat, this money is ours”, Kyle said smiling.

They wanted to grab the money when the others came inside.

“Kyle, Heyes and Curry are coming”, one called.

“They are going to rob some other bank. This one is ours”, reacted Kyle.

He grabbed the money together until Heyes said:“Kyle, I didn’t know that you were so stupid to grab money which isn’t useable anymore.”

“This is old money? Go fool your mother-in-law. This money is as new as can be”, replied Kyle.

“Then you must know it. There comes the sheriff”, said Curry.

Wheat looked out of the window and said:“The Kid is right. Let’s get out of here.”

The Devil’s Hole Gang threw the money down and made sure that they got away. Heyes and Curry went outside.

“I don’t think that they will ever come here”, said Heyes.

“As long as there is an empty bank with old money and no train station yet not”, was the answer of his partner.
