Teacher Jennifer Wilson had the first grade under her wings. In that class sat de Mitch Cartwright, descendant from the Cartwright dynasty. The boy sat temporary in a wheelchair due a serious left ankle operation.
That certain afternoon Jennifer said, “Children, this afternoon I am going to teach you about left and right. Pick up with your user hand a pencil and hold it high. ”
The children did that and the teacher wrote down how many children were right handed or left handed. The children got the assignment whereby they had to draw their hand on a sheet.
Jennifer saw that Mitch had a lot of trouble with it and stepped in harsh.
“Mitch, it is the meaning that you draw your use hand”, she said.
“I do that”, the boy said.
“No, you are not doing that!”, answered Jennifer.
Mitch said, “I just don’t know the difference between left and right.”
“You haven’t paid attention like usual”, the teacher said a bit annoyed.
She got a new sheet, put the left hand of the young Cartwright on it and helped Mitch with drawing the hand with the right hand.
“Have you finally understand it now?”, she asked snappy.
Mitch nodded shy. Jennifer went to sit again.
The school was out at half past 3 and Adam Cartwright waited by the door to pick up his son Mitch. Quite soon Jennifer came to get him to talk about Mitch.
“Mr Cartwright, your son is to slow to learn something simple. This afternoon I have explained the children between left and right. And 24 out of the 25 pupils understood it. Number 25 was your son. Is he at home also so slow to learn anything?”, she asked suave.
“My child is intelligent enough to learn something. He only has more difficulty with it. But if you have objections to explain it him more often I fear that you are not suitable to teach”, answered Adam.
Jennifer became angry an snapped, “Hereby is your son forever send off this school!”
Mitch, who had heard everything, got his things an threw them into his bag pack.
“Mitchell, come on”, Adam said short.
The boy rode along at once with his father.
Arrived at home Adam and Mitch told what had happened at school.
Ben, the father of Adam, said, “Then it’s better that Mitch learns here. At least until he can walk again. Besides we are going to report it to the school board.”
In the office Hoss Cartwright was behind the computer surfing an discovered silicone bracelets.
He called, “Adam, come over here for a second.”
His older brother came an looked also at the screen.
“They have also of the New York Yankees and in kids seizes. Why don’t you order a few for Mitchy? If he puts it on his right wrist he knows that it is right”, Hoss suggested.
“Just order a few. Then he can wear one and one for his collection. And 2 as spare”, answered Adam.
Hoss ordered the request but didn’t say anything about it to his nephew.
A few days later a package came for Hoss. He went to his nephew and gave the package.
“Is that for me?”, Mitch asked amazed.
“It won’t fit me anyway”, answered his uncle.
Mitch opened it and found the bracelets. Hoss went to sit down by him and got one.
“They are of the New York Yankees. If you pout one on your right wrist you know from then on that it is right”, Hoss explained.
Mitch got the bracelet and put it on his right wrist.
“So this is right?”, Mitch asked for the security.
“Indeed”, answered Hoss.
Adam decided to keep his son at home and to teach him everything on his own. Hereby Mitch learned much better the difference between left and right.
