Like each day Fred Flintstone was working hard in the stone groove He was singing out loud to annoying of his coworkers and dinosaurs.
“Flintstone!”, his boss Mr Slate called at a certain moment.
Fred, who thought that he got promotion and pay rise, jumped out of is dinosaur and ran to the office of his boss.
“You called for me Mr Slate?”, Fred asked cheerful.
“Yes, I called for you to let you stop with singing. You keep me awake from my afternoon nap”, was the angry answer.
“Alright Mr Slate”, was the disappointing answer of Fred.
Quickly he looked at the calendar but at first the date didn’t mean anything to him. He went back to his dinosaur and kept on working without singing but the thought what there was that day. Suddenly it came to mind with Fred: it was his anniversary with Wilma.
“Gee, how can I just forget my own anniversary? If I haven’t bought anything for Wilma I can sleep on the floor again because Dino has taken the sofa once again. After work I go and see if I can find something”, Fred said to himself.
When Fred came to the shops after work he to his big scare that all the shops were closed already.
“Oh no, everything is closed. What do I do now?”, he asked desperate.
“Hey you there”, Fred heard saying then.
Fred looked amazed around him but didn’t see anyone.
“Over here”, whispered a man dressed in black and standing in an alley.
Fred came to him and asked out loud, “What do you want from me?”
“Not so loud. I have exactly what you are looking for. A gold bracelet for a tenner but for you it is just 15 dollar”, said the salesman.
“That is really a bargain. Do me one”, Fred said glad and relieved because he did get something for his wife..
He paid and got the bracelet. But yet before Fred could thank the man he had disappeared already.
“Strange guy. But anyway, I have a nice present for Wilma”, said Fred.
In the Flintstone household Wilma grumbled again because her husband Fred was once again too late at home.
“Why do I actually start dinner far too early while I know that he often comes home too late? Fred will even be too late for his own funeral”, Wilma grumbled in the kitchen where she was preparing a T-Rex special.
Suddenly their pet Dino became restless what Wilma recognized. She opened the front door where after Dino greeted Fred at the usual way. Fred screamed but it didn’t help.
“Dino, dinner!”, Wilma called whereby Fred was saved.
Dino flew inside followed by Fred.
“Why are you late this time?”, Wilma asked strict.
Fred became a bit red and answered, “I had to buy this for you.”
He gave her the golden bracelet. Wilma was speechless when she saw what it was. She flew him around the neck and hugged him to bits.
“Oh Fred. What a nice present”, she said pleased.
The jewel got put on right away.
“I have made your favorite dish, T-Rex special with mashed potatoes”, said Wilma.
“Delicious darling”, Fred said relieved about the good present.
After supper the neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble came to visit.
“The coffee is getting ready”, Wilma said to the visitors.
Betty went along to the kitchen for a chat.
“What has Fred given you?”, asked the neighbor.
“This golden bracelet”, Wilma showed proud.
“Wow. What a beauty”, Betty answered Betty full of admiration.
“Though he came home too late but this makes up a lot for it of course”, said Wilma.
She poured in the coffee and brought it inside with Betty.
“Wilma, show your bracelet to Barney”, said Betty.
Barney saw the bracelet too and reacted with, “You probably have forgotten your anniversary, haven’t you Fred.”
“Why? I never forget my anniversary”, groaned Fred.
“Because the price tag is still in the bracelet”, laughed Barney.
Fred felt wetness and became nervous.
“That’s no price tag but the evidence that it is real gold”, he said quickly.
Betty checked the price tag and said, “Ten dollar. I don’t think that it is a hallmark.”
Wilma knew enough, took the bracelet off and looked at her husband angry.
“Fred Flintstone! I demand that you give chapter and verse about how you had gotten this bracelet”, she said angry.
Fred explained everything.
“So you have bought this bracelet from a jewel thief?”, Wilma asked for the security.
Fred nodded. Wilma began to cry enormously so that the happy sphere was over.
“Alright Wilma. I bring the bracelet to the police and tell everything that has happened. Are you coming Barney?”, asked Fred.
The men went away and Betty stayed by Wilma.
“Men! They are all the same”, Betty said indignant.
On the way to the police station Fred and Barney ran into the conman.
“Fred, is that the guy from whom you bought that for Wilma?”, asked Barney.
“Barney, that’s him. Let’s get hi m and take him to the police”, answered his neighbor.
Fred stopped the car and went with Barney after the conman. Quite soon they had him.
“Let me go”, the conman screamed.
“Come along conman”, Fred said strict.
They dragged him along to the police station where everything was told.
After the conman was locked up the policeman said, “Mr Flintstone, because you have managed to get the jewel thief you may keep the bracelet for your wife. Do remove the price tag first.”
Fred didn’t know what he heard and got it even on paper for Wilma.
Home again Fred said, “Darling, you may put on the bracelet and keep it there too. We were on our way to the police station when we ran into that salesman. So we gave him a lift to the station. As thanks I was allowed to keep the bracelet. Happy anniversary.”
Again Wilma started to cry what the men didn’t understand.
“Why are you crying now? You are wearing the bracelet, aren’t you?”, Fred asked amazed.
“I cry of joy”, Wilma said through her tears.
Everybody laughed.
