Ponderosa owner Ben Cartwright had with his 2 oldest grandchildren Mitch and Pam, aged 12, made a long ride and collected the owed rent of his tenants. Now they were in Virginia City to deposit the money into Ben's account. It was done quickly when 2 unknown and not al too bright cowboys came in.
“That doesn't promise much good”, Mitch whispered to his sister.
Ben kept an eye on the twins but also on the unknown visitors.
“Everyone against the wall and not a move”, said cowboy number 1 who listened to the name of Pete Williams.
He waved with his revolver whereby everyone went to stand against the wall.
“Let those 2 little ones go”, said Ben.
He pointed at his grandchildren.
“And they are going to warn the sheriff? No way old man. Those little ones stay here and you go outside. Someone has to fill our bags and that do those little ones. Go on outside”, James Parker, the accomplish of Pete Williams, answered.
“Go on. We will deal with them”, Mitch whispered to Ben.
Pam nodded so that the grown ups left the building. Though Ben wasn't relieved. He knew how the twins were and could be.
When the twins were alone with the bank robbers Mitch asked, “What are we going to do? Hide and seek. We hide the money and you will look for it. Alright?”
James asked, “Just forget it. Are you happen to be the most funniest person at home?”
“The funniest yes but not the most friendliest. That's the knob of the door because it gives everyone a hand”, answered Mitch.
The robbers didn't understand the joke but Pam did. At her sign Mitch began to pace. Pam began to do that as well.
“Stop with that pacing! Rather fill these bags”, snapped Pete.
He threw 2 bags to the children.
“What must get into it?”, Pam asked innocent.
“Money of course. What did you think then? Eggs?”, asked Pete.
“There are no chickens here so we can't fill them with eggs. We can't get to the money because that's in the safe. And that's locked”, answered Mitch.
James walked up to Mitch, pointed his revolver at him and said, “You keep your beak shit now or otherwise I will hit it shut.”
“I do want to keep silent but I can't because I don't have a beak. By the way you have a big beak yourself too. Oh no, that's your mouth”, said Mitch.
This was a bit too much for James who became insane from the chatting of Mitch.
Meanwhile Pam kept herself busy with Pete.
“Nice weapon. May I take a look at it?”, she asked.
In his stupidity he gave the weapon to Pam. Because she knew how a revolver was made up Pam quickly emptied the chamber by putting the bullets in the money bag.
Here after she said, “Here is your revolver back.”
“Thanks. Is that lame nuisance your brother by accident?”“, asked Pete.
“Yes, and he is also older”“, answered Pam.
“Pete, I have enough of these 2 and this bank. We blow them away and take off with the money”“, James said nervous.
“Good idea. I shoot them down”“, said Pete.
He pointed his revolver at Pam and wanted to shoot her but the weapon refused.
“Damn James, you have unfixed my weapon”“, said Pete.
“I haven't at all”“, said James.
They began to fight and paid herby no attention to the twins anymore. Mitch and Pam sneaked outside where Ben received them.
“They are fighting because I emptied a revolver”“, said Pam.
“And I had to keep my beak shut of the other one”, her brother told light-hearted.
Mitch, why doesn't that surprise me at all?”, Ben asked teasing.
“Because I'm always so silent?”, was the counter-question of his grandson.
Sheriff Roy Coffee went inside and found in the bank 2 fighting cowboys.
“Gentlemen, you are going nicely along with me”, Roy said amused.
The bank robbers went along amazed.
When everything was quiet again Ben said, “Mitch, Pam, after this boring afternoon we go home.”
“Why boring afternoon?”, asked Pam.
“Grandpa is jealous of course because we eliminated those 2 bank robbers and he didn't”, her brother answered.
They laughed and mounted on, just like Ben did. The rancher knew that he loved the twins too much to get angry with them. Quickly they rode to their ranch.
