Morning Full Of Happenings

Due to the birthday of their son Matthew (October 25) and the upcoming birth of the newest Cartwright Dan and Laura Walker had come over from New York. Of course Adam and Sally Cartwright were very pleased with their arrival. Due to nasty cattle thieves Adam was away a lot with the twins (Mitch and Pam) and Matthew. Hereby Sally was alone to do the taking care of and raising of their daughters Lisa and Rose + the household. Normally spoken Sally didn’t mind this but now it was very tough for her because she could give birth to their 5th child any moment.

Already at their arrival Laura said, ”Sally, you keep rest from now on and I do the household. Dan, you look after the girls.”

It was Thursday November 6, 1879. Sally had noticed that the baby was on its way and remained in bed for that reason. Adam sat by her for support.

“The baby is now really coming”, said Sally.

“I let the doctor come”, said Adam.

He got up and went downstairs where the others were.

“Dan, can you let the doctor come? The baby comes”, said Adam.

Dan left at once. The eldest Cartwright boy saw that the twins (Mitch and Pam) were away and looked at Laura.

“They were away very early and Matt too. You know that those cattle thieves are still hang around there”, she explained.

Adam nodded. He rather had gone with them but now his wife was giving birth he stayed at home.

“Just you go to Sally. I will look after the girls”, said Laura.

Adam went back to the bedroom. Exactly at the moment that Sally felt the head coming Adam came into the bedroom.

She said, ”You must help me with having the baby. The waters has broken. Adam, I feel it coming.”

Adam went to sit by her and looked how far she was.

“Just push as hard as you can because our little one is coming”, Adam said calm.

Sally worked hard and gave birth a moment later to a healthy daughter.

Adam saw what they had gotten and said teasing, ”Mitch won’t really like this because you have given him another little sister.”

He put their daughter by his wife and kissed her of happiness.

“She is called Daisy”, Sally said crying of happiness.

Arrived in Virginia City Dan went straight to Doc Martin.

“Doc, Sally is busy having the baby”, said Dan.

“I go along at once”, said de arts.

Adam and Sally admired their newest child.

“She is so little and sweet”, Sally said looking at the baby.

“Yet but this one will be big one day”, reacted Adam.

“This is our last one”, said Sally.

Adam agreed.

Meanwhile 2 not all too clever outlaws were watching from a hill at the herd which belongs to the Cartwright family.

“Nobody around so we can nick those beasts easily”, said Kevin Carson, 1 of the 2.

His mate Pete Jackson answered, “Then those Cartwrights are very stupid. You don’t leave such a herd alone, do you?”

They rode to the herd and forced up the herd. Suddenly the outlaws heard a shot just right pass their ears.

“What do you want here?”, 16-year old Mitch Cartwright asked.

“We have bought this herd from Ben Cartwright”, answered Pete.

“If that’s so why do you come in such a rush riding?”, Matthew Walker (also 16 years old) wanted to know.

Kevin said, “That’s none of your concern Shorty!”

“That is our concern”, the cowgirl next to Mitch said.

The voice belonged to Pam Cartwright, his twin sister.

“Gee, the little one has his girl and boyfriend with him. How cozy”, Kevin said mocking.

Not a second later he got a bullet into his left leg.

Kevin first looked at his shot wound and said then angry and insulted, “Dirty bastard!”

“Do you also want a nice hole in your leg? If not, piss off then”, Mitch said to Pete.

The outlaws began to laugh hard. Especially when they saw that Mitch was lame.

Pete rode towards Pam and said, “What are you a nice thing.”

He pulled her off her horse Chiney but Pam took revenge at once by shooting him into his manhood parts. Pete let her loose right away. By the unexpected shot the horse of Pete had ran away. Pam fled away, jumped on Chiney and rode away. Mitch hit at the backside of the horse of Kevin so that the animal rode away hard. The boys followed Pam on the heels.

The 2 youngest Cartwright brothers (Hoss and Little Joe) were at another part of their spread when the twins and Matthew came riding by. They stopped them.

“What is the matter?”, Hoss asked the children.

“Two unsavory cowboys came at the herd who wanted to steal the cattle. One has a shot wound in his leg. His mate wanted to take Pam but she shot him in his noble parts. I chased the horse of that geezer with the shot wound on it away. Then we fled away”, answered Mitch.

“You show us the spot. After that you go straight home to tell grandpa”, Joe said shocked.

The twins nodded. They went to the spot where Pete was still lying around due to the pain.

“Uncle Hoss, that’s him”, Pam said pointing at Pete.

Hoss dismounted, kicked the outlaw against his painful place and said groaning, “That will teach you to bother my nephews and niece!”

“So those 3 are yours? You may teach them some manners”, said Pete.

“They have been raised very nicely. The cause that they come over so rough sometimes it the influence of your kind”, Joe answered fierce.

The twins and Matthew turned their horses and rode back home quickly.

At the Ponderosa there was a lot of excitement. The Chinese cook Hop Sing was in the kitchen busy with the lunch with help from Betsy and Cora Cartwright. They were the daughters-in-law of Ponderosa owner Ben Cartwright. His granddaughters played in the big living room. To avoid the nice business the rancher himself was on the porch. Suddenly he saw 3 familiar ones coming.

“Grandpa, we have discovered 2 cattle thieves at the herd. One is still lying there but our uncles are with him. The other has a bullet in his leg but escaped. We don’t know where he is”, said Mitch.

“What does he look like?”, asked the rancher.

Mitch described him into the smallest details. Then Cody came running.

After Kevin Carson had rode away with his shot wound he looked for medical support at a house close by. Very by incidence that was the house where Adam and Sally lived. He stumbled inside and held at the same time Lisa and Rose under gunshot. Laura knew by this that Mitch had given him that bullet. Kevin went to sit on the settee and looked around.

“You must help me. A little lame boy shot me down”, Kevin snapped at Laura.

Laura looked at the wound and said, ”That’s only a graze wound. You will survive it.”

Kevin was so amazed by this announcement that he dropped his rifle. Cody grabbed it and gave it to Laura. Here after he ran away.

“I am away. Women! They are nothing but misery!”, Kevin said angry.

“You are going nowhere! Skip, watch him”, Laura said to the Labrador.

He did that with pleasure.

Meanwhile Cody had alarmed Ben and he went to the house of his oldest son.

“Boys, we go to your house”, Ben said right away.

He mounted on his horse and went along with his grandchildren.

When entering Mitch asked, “Grandpa, that is the cattle thief who had the great honor to receive my bullet. Do you come to bring my bullet back?”

“Shut up Shorty!”, groaned Kevin.

Skip barked fierce whereby the cattle thief became scared.

“He is a cattle thief and afraid of a Labrador”, Matthew remarked.

His father came inside and saw the scary cattle thief.

“Boys, we bring this cattle thief to Virginia City. Skip, you may come too”, said Dan.

Kevin got tied up and thrown on the wagon. Skip got put on it and kept on looking at the cattle thief groaning.

Meanwhile Hoss and Joe were still keeping busy with Pete. The brothers were pestering quite a lot.

“He is a grown man but cut down by a 16 year old girl”, said Hoss.

“The youth of today has no respect anymore for the elderly”, said Joe.

“Shut up”, Pete said with a peep voice.

“Joe, did you hear that too? Is that a mouse or something else?”, asked Hoss.

“Maybe a soprano dressed up as a cattle thief”, was the answer of Joe.

They laughed.

“The singing choir always can use new singing voices”, was the reaction of Joe.

“Joe, this is what we do. We bring this soprano to Virginia City and then Clem can bring him along to the singing choir. You know that he also sings in that too”, said Hoss.

The brothers didn’t even have to force him to come along because Pete took care of his own ending. He grabbed his revolver and shot himself through the head.

“Good riddance”, said Hoss.

They took the body along to Virginia City.

Doc Martin went straight through to the bedroom of Adam and Sally. Daisy just began to cry.

“I believe that the baby is already being born”, said the doctor.

“She came very quickly”, Sally confessed.

Doc examined mother and child and declared them both healthy.

Arrived in Virginia City Hoss and Joe just saw their nephews coming out of the office of the sheriff. Of course Hoss and Joe didn’t understand a thing about it. They dismounted and hitched their horses.

“What are you doing here?”, Joe asked amazed.

Mitch told quickly what had happened. Here after Hoss and Joe went into the sheriff. A moment later Dan and the boys went back home again. Of course skip went along with them as well.

When the boys came home Ben was reading to Lisa and Rose. Pam and Laura were in the kitchen busy with the lunch.

“Grandpa, we have dealt with those cattle thieves. One is dead and the other one is in the”, said Mitch.

“That’s good news boy. But I think that your parents have better news for you later on”, answered the rancher.

“Read on grandpa”, Rose said a bit impatient.

Everybody laughed where after Ben read on. Matthew went to the kitchen.

“Everything is solved”, said Matthew.

“Great”, said Pam.

When Daisy got shown to her family members the incident with the failed cattle thieves had been forgotten at once. Now that there another Cartwright was this meant that the Cartwright family wasn’t died out for the time being and that with cattle thieves got dealt merciless.
