On a nice day Buck and Billy Blue Cannon had gone to Tucson. Just before they went into the saloon Blue saw an attractive girl standing. The young Cannon was smitten with her right away. Though he didn’t dare to go to her or to start a conversation with the girl who seemed to like him as well. Buck noticed that and dragged his nephew into the saloon.
“Blue Boy, if you don’t take action quickly someone else goes away with her”, was his advice.
“She probably belongs to someone else”, reacted Blue.
Meanwhile Buck ordered two whiskeys.
“Take this advice from your uncle, go to her and offer her something to drink. Each woman will accept this”, said Buck.
Blue accepted this time the advice and went to the girl. Though when he came outside the girl had disappeared. Blue looked around but whatever he saw, no attractive girl. He decided to look for her.
When Blue was by the bank suddenly the door flew open. The young Cannon jumped aside and 4 masked persons ran outside.
“Stop!”, Blue called direct.
With drawn revolver he held the bank robbers under shot. They kept standing and more people came nearer including sheriff Watkins and Buck.
“Sheriff, this foursome has robbed the bank”, said Blue.
“Come along. There is room enough in prison. Blue, you too come along”, said the sheriff.
Blue helped the sheriff to bring the bank robbers to prison.
“Blue boy, I will help you”, said Buck.
“Uncle Buck, the sheriff only asked for my help. Not yours”, reacted his nephew.
They walked to the prison, leaving Buck indignant behind.
“The youth of today”, Buck said to himself while he walked back to the saloon.
He didn’t need his nephew to have a good time.
In prison the bank robbers got put in separate cells.
“Masks off”, said the sheriff.
The prisoners took their masks off and Blue stood amazed watching when he saw who one of the bank robbers was.
“Whose plan was it to rob the bank?”, asked the sheriff.
“It was his plan. I was forced to join in. Because otherwise I would never see my parents back again”, the girl said het pointing at the gang leader Glen Smith.
“Who are your parents?”, asked the sheriff.
“Albert and Lisa Miller. They live in Denver. My father is owner of several banks including this one in Tucson. Then Glen Smith and his brothers came by. They kidnapped me but I knew to talk them round”, said the girl.
“Who are you then?”, asked Blue.
“Connie Miller”, she answered.
“Well, miss Miller, I release you under the condition that you stay with this young man until the court case takes place”, said the sheriff.
“That will happen”, said Connie.
Blue took Connie along after she was released.
“I am Billy Blue Cannon but everyone calls me Blue”, Blue said outside.
“Blue, where do you actually live?”, asked Connie.
“At the ranch the High Chaparral. My pa is the owner of it. Are you coming?”, asked Blue.
Connie nodded. They got their horses and mounted on. At that moment Buck came out of the saloon.
“Blue boy, wait for me”, he called.
“Rode on through because then we are there sooner than he is”, Blue whispered quickly.
“Who is that?”, Connie asked amazed while she quickly gave her horse the spurs.
“My uncle”, answered Blue.
He too gave his horse Soapy the spurs.
In Tucson Buck decided to go home as well but on his horse Rebel and in his own pace. Hereby he could give Blue and Connie some time for themselves. That was already hard enough at the ranch.
At the High Chaparral John Cannon saw with his brother-in-law Manolito Montoya the two young ones coming.
“John, I believe that your son has rummaged out a girl”, said Manolito.
“He went along with Buck and returns with someone else. I wonder where Buck is”, reacted the rancher.
“Well, John, he will enjoy himself anyway”, brother-in-law said.
Foreman Sam Butler saw them coming too and came to look.
“Hello pa, Mano. May I introduce you to Connie? Connie, my pa and uncle Manolito. She stays here a while until the court case against 3 bank robbers take place”, Blue said who had rode upon the yard with the girl.
“Welkom at the High Chaparral miss”, said John.
“Thank you”, Connie said modest.
Blue dismounted and helped Connie on the ground. Together they walked to the ranch house. Victoria Cannon-Sebastian came towards them and this time the girl got welcomed too.
Just much later Buck came home. Blue and Connie were witnesses of his homecoming.
“That is my uncle Buck. He advised me to look for you”, said Blue.
“Then it is good that you have followed his advice. Otherwise I still would be in jail”, was the answer of his girlfriend.
They kissed each other which Buck saw. The youngest Cannon brother wanted to make a sharp remark but instead went inside.
“John, that gal got round your son totally”, said Buck.
“I can understand that. Connie stays here till the court case”, answered his brother.
A week later.
Connie had to testify against the bank robbers. By her friendship with Blue she had enough courage to tell everything that had happened. Hereby Connie got acquitted and the others convicted to years of imprisonment.
After the court case Connie and Blue said goodbye to each other but they would never forget each other again.
