UNLUCKY DAY

On a nice day William Taylor came into the luxury Barrington hotel. On his left hand he saw the restaurant and he went straight to it. Because it was self-service William took the most delicious stuff he saw standing. Of course he didn’t forget the drinks either.

“Sir, may I have your name and room number?”, asked waitress Betty Reed.

“Of course. I sleep in room 117 and the name is Frank Young”, answered William.

Betty wrote down the name and room number and went then to the desk.

“John, there is something wrong with that guest. Do we have a Frank Young to stay?”, she asked the receptionist.

John Blake looked into the computer but didn’t see any Frank Young signed in.

“No, no single person with that name. Besides room number 117 is free. I will call the police”, he said.

“What for reason do you give up for the arrest?”, asked Betty.

“Killing our valuable food”, answered John.

Not much later detectives Lennie Briscoe and his partner Rey Curtis were at the hotel.

“I am detective Lennie Briscoe and this is my partner Rey Curtis. Where is the victim?”, asked Lennie.

“The victim lies in the restaurant and the killer sits there too”, answered John.

He went the detectives ahead to the restaurant where William was having his third portion of baked eggs with bacon.

“Good morning gentlemen. Come and join me”, William said inviting.

“No, thank you. It is a bit too expensive for my salary”, reacted Lennie.

“Tel, who are you and why do you eat here while you don’t even have rented a room in this hotel?”, asked Rey.

William began to tell, “I am William Taylor and just felt like having a great meal. So I just walked into this hotel and grabbed something to chow. I gave up the false name Frank Young to the waitress. The reason why I did it? Just because it’s a waste to let it there.”

“You do understand that you have done something wrong, don’t you?”, Rey asked for the security.

“I understand. You are going to arrest me?”, William asked on his turn.

“The hotel charges you for murdering valuable food”, said Lennie.

“Valuable food? Don’t make me laugh. It’s just food from the supermarket. Only because this is a very chic hotel they call it valuable food”, reacted William.

Lennie walked away for a second and phoned his boss luitenant Anita van Buren.

“Lou, we have an eating pirate here. He doesn’t stay here but does eat it all”, said Lennie.

“I will call McCoy about this. Then he can decide. Keep that eater there”, said Anita.

Lennie walked back to the restaurant and said, “The district attorney is coming for our guest.”

A while later district attorney Jack McCoy came into the hotel and he saw quite quickly the detectives standing. He got to hear what the matter was. Meanwhile hotel owner Mark Lake had come as well. He also knew what had happened.

“Jack, this is the hotel owner Mr Lake”, said Rey.

“He knows that he is in the wrong so he must have punishment”, said Mark.

“That is so but this is just a light offense. I suggest that Mr Taylor or whatever his name is goes to do the dishes for what he has used”, answered Jack.

Mark nodded approving. With the detectives Jack went to William.

“Mr Taylor, because you have given up a false name and have eaten and drunk here unpaid I give you the punishment to do the dishes for the amount that you have used”, spoke Jack.

“Well, what does it matter? It is my bad day already. First I see a black cat walking by, I look in to the mirror which breaks right away and I walk underneath a ladder”, William said sighing.

He was brought to the kitchen. The detectives and Jack went outside.

“Which date is it today?”, asked Rey.

“Friday the thirteenth. Why?”, Jack asked amazed.

“So that explains all the misfortune and bad luck of William”, answered Lennie.
