FLYING A KITE

“Hoss Cartwright! What does this kite doing here?”, Ben Cartwright asked his middle son.

The owner of the Ponderosa Ranch came walking up the yard with a blue kite in his hands.

“That kite?”, Hoss asked amazed.

“This kite yes. I found it outside the yard”, answered Ben.

“Then Mitchy shall lifted it up too high I guess”, Hoss suggested.

“Mitch has done that?”, Ben asked amazed.

“Who else? The smurfs?”, Hoss asked even amazed.

“Maybe yes. Your nephew is 3 years old and too little to walk with such a kite”, said Ben.

Hoss realised that he and his younger brother Joe had done something they weren’t allowed to do.

“Alright pa. I confess: I have played with that kite but on the yard. How it got outside I don’t know”, said Hoss.

He thought for a moment and came then at the name of the real culprit.

“Dadburnit. That is another mean trick of Little Joe!”, groaned Hoss.

Ben looked at him questionable and waited for an explanantion.

“Well, Mitchy showed it tous and asked us to let him show how he had to fly a kite. I did that at the yard but Joe let it fly away. That’s why Adam is so angry with uss”, Hoss explained.

“Well, my grandson has his kite back. But I know for sure that you will never be allowed to play with it of him. Or Adam”, Ben said before he went inside with the kite.

Hoss vowed for revenge and went to look for his younger brother. Hereby it was quiet at the Ponderosa for a while.
