Gossip

Mina Clark lived in Virginia City with her 21 year old daughter Gloria. Mina knew all news as first and all the gossips too were spread by her. But her daughter was also a star in it.

On a morning Gloria ran into Mitch Cartwright. Mitch had just put his via internet ordered shopping into his jeep when Gloria walked by. She had fallen for the young Cartwright right away.

“What a lot of shopping say! Is that for an orphanage?”, asked Gloria.

Mitch recognized her and knew that he had to be careful with his answers.

“That is for my B&B”, he answered.

“So you have a B&B? How nice. I will drop by soon. Where is it?”, she asked.

“At the edge of the Ponderosa”, said Mitch.

Gloria saw a wedding ring and asked as curious as she was, “So you run the B&B with your wife?”

Mitch answered, “I am married but not to a woman. My partner is Matthew Walker.”

Gloria left with a very dirty face.

Arrived at home Gloria said, “Mother, I have heard something very interesting.”

“Tell!”, said Mina.

“At the supermarket I ran into Mick Cartwright. You know the oldest grandson of Ben Cartwright. He had gotten quite a lot shopping and he said that those were needed for the B&B that he runs together with his husband. He is married to Matthew Walker. Disgusting”, told Gloria.

“So that young Cartwright falls for boys? Well, that happens when you grow up as a kid with only men”, said Mina.

Gloria thought so too. She was raised with the idea that a man married a woman and that the woman did the housekeeping and the man took care of the income.

Later that same day Mina ran into Ben and his oldest son Adam.

“Ben, you’re the one I must see”, said Mina.

The owner of the Ponderosa ranch looked at his son and they thought the same thing.

“Well miss Clark, it is about my oldest grandson, isn’t it?”, he asked.

“Yes. My sweet daughter Gloria said that Mick has told her that he has a B&B together with his husband Matthew Walker. Is that true?”, she asked.

“That he has a B&B with Matt is right but my grandson is called Mitch and not Mick”, said the rancher.

“Do you know how it comes that he falls for boys?”, asked Mina.

Both Cartwrights looked at her questionable.

“Because there wasn’t a woman around when the boy was growing up”, answered Mina triumph.

She looked triumphed around her until Adam said on a fierce tone, “His mother and I just have enjoyed 11 months of Mitch together until she got killed by a car! Mary, his mother, has always known that our son fell for boys. My son and son-in-law are very happy together and I want that it stays that way.”

Meanwhile more people had come nearer and they had heard the conversation too.

“Where is that B&B?”, someone asked.

Ben gave the address and went then away with Adam. Mina walked away angry.

A few days later Ben got an email from his 2 eldest grandsons. Of course the rancher became curious and opened the email.

It said,

Dear grandpa,

One way or another our B&B is fully booked for the upcoming 8 weeks with local residents. It seems that we must be very thankful to the ladies Mina and Gloria Clark for that.
