Worrying About the Future

     As a college student, we usually do not know what we should do after we graduate. We wonder if it would be better to find a job and start to work as soon as possible or continue to study for the master’s degree. There are two reasons for this problem.

     Since there are too many subjects to choose, it is really hard for us to decide what major we were interested in when we were in high school. And some college students may find the major they have chosen was interesting but it is too hard for them to learn. So they may change their major in the next semester. Some of them changed one to another, and the next year, they may change into another again. In this way, these students usually change their jobs frequently in the future for the same reason: they are not interested in or they cannot handle the work.

     Another reason why it’s hard for us to decide what we should do in the future is that people usually think that a higher degree is the only way to enter a good company. And it makes us consider studying for the higher degrees. Some people like the majors that they have learned in the college but they still cannot find jobs after they finish school. It is because many companies often hire people who have higher degrees; therefore, more and more people continue to study after they graduate from college in order to find a good job. This also makes us wonder whether we should continue to study or not when we heard this kind of experience.

     These are the two reasons that make us unable to decide what we should do after graduation. Too many subjects to choose make us change our field of interest into another easily. And the company’s hiring only the people who got higher degrees make us consider studying intensively. So the two realities usually make it hard for us to decide what we will do in the future.
