Sesame Street and GVO

Now, many people want to learn English, no matter children or adults. They think what they learn from school is not enough, so they go to the cram school to improve their English. There are many cram schools in Taiwan, for example, Sesame Street, which is for children and Global Village Organization (GVO), which is for adults.

First, Sesame Street and GVO are for different ages of learners, so the textbooks may be different. There are many cartoon pictures in the Sesame Street’s textbooks. In Sesame Street, there are many professionals to design the textbooks. They also design many cartoon characters to represent Sesame Street. The cartoon characters and the textbooks may help children to get into the English world easily. And in the GVO’s textbooks, there are more difficult essays than the Sesame Street’s textbooks. There are many essays about economy, environmental protection and politics in GVO’s textbooks. Many students in GVO are non school persons, so these essays may be suitable for them.

Second, the teaching methods are also different between Sesame Street and GVO. In Sesame Street, students are all children, so the teacher should use the funny teaching method to teach students. The teacher has to think up many games to catch children’s attention, which can make them interested in learning English. But in GVO, students are mostly adults, so the teachers may be more serious than the teachers in Sesame Street. And the teacher in GVO may teach much more professional knowledge to students.

Finally, the schedules of class are very different between the two cram schools. In Sesame Street, the schedule cannot be changed. If you choose the class on Monday, you have to go to the class on Monday. However, the schedules in GVO are various and flexible. You can go to the class anytime you want. You can go to the class everyday or maybe just one day a week. You also can choose the teacher. If you don’t like one teacher, you can change to another class to learn from the teacher who you like.

Students of different ages need different teaching methods. I have ever been to these two cram schools to study. Sesame Street introduced me into the English world and GVO let me learn much more deeper knowledge about English. I think both Sesame Street and GVO are good cram schools. They both can help students to improve their English.
