Stray Dogs on Campus

Rex Jason “R. J.” Kung

Once I was walking on campus with a delighted mood. Suddenly, I felt that I stepped on a stinky and sticky unidentified object. I was alarmed and panicky because the object that I stepped on was a dog’s droppings! At the moment, I was extremely infuriated and my temper almost hit the roof. Should we call dog catchers to come over our campus to catch them? I believe many students do not want it. But maybe we should do it to maintain the clean environment of our campus or the school should find some way to resolve this stray dogs problem.

As you can see, many students from Chinese Culture University really like those stray dogs, the so-called dogs of campus. They feed them, play with them and even found an organization on Facebook for those dogs of campus. This behavior is so impressive and philanthropic. They love dogs of campus, but maybe three months ago, I noticed that the population of dogs of campus increased because some dogs delivered puppies. In my opinion, the more and more stray dogs have been endangering the school environment. Besides, students like to feed those dogs. It may make the environment of the school become worse. I realize that students follow their feelings and are not malicious, but they don’t know it will bring about a big trouble to the school. Dogs of campus will defecate everywhere and growl at the passerby. Honestly, I am fed up with them! I cannot stand that our campus has become such a dirty place.

As far as I am concerned, the school should take the responsibility for this problem. A bunch of stray dogs are all over the campus, which makes our environment smudgy and unsafe. The dogs probably come to campus because students feed them. I have to clarify that personally I do not want the dog catchers to capture the dogs, because I know the fate of the stray dogs when they are caught; they will be treated cruelly, and therefore, I hope the school can deal with this problem. For example, the school can set up a special area for those dogs, which can prevent them from walking around the campus. Maybe the school can hire a professional to take a good care of them. But if the school does not want to solve the stray dogs problem or does not want to use the method mentioned above, and then maybe someone would call the dog catcher over. Letting stray dogs roam on the street at random will not only endanger pedestrians but also do harm to the school image. I think that it’s rather cruel to slaughter stray dogs. But we have no choice if the school doesn’t do anything about it.

I just hope our gorgeous campus would not be ruined by those stray dogs. So maybe someone can suggest the school to solve this stray dogs problem or call the dog catcher over. But calling the dog catcher may not be the best plan available. I really expect the school can set up a student association for those stray dogs. I believe there will be lots of benefactors to take good care of these dogs and cure their illness.
