Smartphone Addicts

Jocelyn Su

Smartphones are very common nowadays. Almost every person has a smartphone. We can use it to do many things. For example, we can surf the Internet, use the Google map, play games, and text messages to our friends. Because the smartphone is really convenient and fun, there are more and more smartphone addicts recently. In my opinion, smartphone addicts refer to people who use their smartphone anytime, anywhere. Although the smartphone is really convenient, there are still some disadvantages to use it frequently.

First, the smartphone addicts always use the phone anytime. It really wastes time. I think using the smartphone in boring time is not bad, but we should control ourselves. For example, we can use it for fifteen minutes, and then take a break to do another thing.

Another disadvantage is using the smartphone day and night will cause some health problems. If the smartphone addicts are obsessed with an app or a game, they will want to play it all day. In this situation, they

will give up sleeping and stay up all night. The lack of sleep will make them short of enough energy to work next day. And their health will get worse and worse. We should put the smartphone away and get enough sleep every night.

The third disadvantage is the smartphone addicts will cause traffic problems sometimes. Some smartphone addicts use the smartphone on the road; they don’t pay attention to the road condition. They may bump into others accidently. If the drivers use the smartphone, and don’t notice the traffic lights or the road condition, the traffic accident may occur. It is dangerous. We should do one thing at a time, and avoid the risky situations.

There are many smartphone addicts these days, including myself. I always take out my smartphone, and surf the Internet when I am bored. I know it is a bad habit, but it is really hard to change. I think it’s important that we control ourselves when using the smartphone. In this way, we can enjoy the convenience of the smartphone while avoiding its disadvantages.
