Problems that Leaders Have to Face

      I joined chorus two years ago. I had a good time in the first year because I didn’t have to do anything. I went to the class and learned how to sing well. This was the only thing I had to do at that time. This semester, our leader told me that he had to go to the cram school every night, so I became the leader of the chorus. I was surprised that there were so many problems I had to solve, although I had already known that. I also realized that we have to choose the right person to be a leader, because the person may deal with these problems well.

     Being a leader has to face many kinds of people. With different kinds of people, the leader has to use different ways to treat them. For example, one day, one of our chorus members insisted we join an activity. However, that activity was impossible for us to prepare. I asked him how he prepared those tools. He answered me that he could borrow tools from his friends or he could prepare them all by himself. We talked for about half an hour. He still insisted that he would prepare the activity by himself and he would solve all the problems. In this case, I discussed the problem with other members. We finally told him that there’s no time to prepare the activity. We let him focus on our final singing concert.

     A leader should not spend too much time on the club. A leader tends to spend more time on the clubs than on school work. I heard one of the leaders in our school clubs spent so much time on the club that he dropped out and the club suddenly had no leader.

     A leader should have more enthusiasm than others. When a leader had no enthusiasm for his or her club, the club may fall apart soon. For example, I became to feel tired when I have some problems about chorus, because I don’t have enthusiasm like the first year. I tended to complain to my friends about the club and I didn’t want to talk to my members when they called me.

    There are many problems that every leader has to face. I think it’s important to choose a good leader for any organization.
