The Paradise

Annie Hsieh

The place for my first part-time job was the happiest paradise for me. To own a candy shop or to work in a candy shop was the dream that most people have in common when they were children. But only a few people could make it come true. However, I made the dream come true when I was an elementary school student. Because of my father’s friend, who had a candy factory, I had the chance to work there in the summer vacation about ten years ago. I would never forget the feeling when I went into the factory for the first time. It was an interesting and surprising place that was full of the rich smell of all kinds of candies. The amazing sight was that lots of lollipops were made by a machine regularly. And all of lollipops were just like neat troops. Moreover, the sounds from the machines resounded through the whole factory. In a word, it was the most exciting and the happiest paradise for all the children, including me. At that time, my elder brother and I went there to work everyday. In fact, we went there just for fun. We ate all kinds of candies there. For instance, we ate chocolates, lollipops, jelly, marshmallows and so on. Unfortunately, about one month later, because the factory was moved to another place that was far from my house, I had no choice but give up the job. Although it has passed for ten years, I can still remember the smell, the sounds and the lovely paradise now. I think that it must be my happiest time in my life and I would never forget the “sweet” paradise. It will be in my mind forever.
