Different Types of Accommodations in Taiwan

Tourism becomes more and more popular in Taiwan. Many people consider the accommodations a lot when they are planning to go traveling. They don’t want the bad accommodations to destroy their trip. And according to my observation and experience, there are many types of accommodations in Taiwan, including hotels, guesthouses, resorts and farms.

The first type is the hotel. This is the most common and traditional type of accommodation in Taiwan. And it is the most standard among the four. There are so many activities to do in the hotels. For example, we can use the gymnasium, spa area, swimming pool in the hotel. Some people just stay one night and leave the next morning. Of course the hotels usually offer a breakfast. Sheraton Hotel is one of the most famous hotels in Taiwan. However, some people choose not to stay at a hotel because of the high price, and they think it is not worth the money to stay at a hotel. So they may choose for other types of accommodation, such as the guesthouse.

The guesthouses are booming recently and lots of people choose them. The owners build their guesthouses near the tourist region so that it is easy for them to catch people’s attention. Some guesthouses have unique features. For example, many guesthouses have spectacular view which hotels don’t have, and each of the guesthouses is in different style. More and more people love to stay at guesthouses because of their convenience and lower prices. Top Cloud Villa at Cinging is one of the guesthouses I have stayed.

Another type is the farm. The area of a farm is usually quite wide. This type is now quite popular for people who do not want to have a tight schedule. The farm usually combines both amusements and accommodations. People can do many activities such as riding the horse and feeding the animals in the farm. They can also enjoy the facilities offered by the farm such as tandem bicycles or small cars. And the price is not that expensive like the cost for a good hotel. Tsou-Ma-Lai Farm is one of the most typical farms in Tainan.

And the fourth type is the resorts. This kind of accommodation is similar to farms. But resorts are usually bigger than farms. Resort is just like an amusement park which has accommodations where we can stay. There are lots of tricks played by the stunt men in the resorts. People can enjoy the performances and amusements in the resort. Or we can take a walk in the garden, appreciating the beautiful flowers in the resort. West-Lake Resortopia is the kind of resort that is quite famous in Taiwan.

Each kind of accommodations has its advantages and disadvantages. For me, my favorite type is the farm. I can spend less money and do many activities in a farm. And I can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the farm. No matter which type of accommodations we choose, the purpose is to have fun in the journey.
