My Sister and I

Mimo  Ye

I am three years older than my sister, Connie. As far as I remember, Connie is just like my twin. We laugh, play, and cry together. Many people, who know Connie and me, always say that we look like twins. Growing up, however, we are not only quite different in appearance, but also very different in character. Our relatives were fond of me; although they like Connie more than me now, I don’t think I’m inferior to her.

Connie is a senior high school student who has lots of like-minded friends, but her character, learning attitude, and life habit are not very well. She seems like a lovable and quiet person. In fact, she is noisy, and only listens to what she wants to listen. She is not a thoughtful person, and she only cares about herself, not empathizing with our parents. Her grades in school are pretty good, but she only studies before exams with lots of friends in our home. She prefers to do some unimportant things rather than her homework and tests, even though she will stay up late and may be late for school. Her life habits are also terrible. She usually takes my things without asking, and never returns them to me until I ask her to. She is used to throwing something on the ground such as her bag, hair dryers, and moist towels.

In contrast, I believe I am a much better person than Connie. My deeds accord with words, and I am always candid. I am an outgoing and amiable person. I am outspoken, and happy to share things with friends. Although I am childish, I still consider things seriously. Maybe I am not very smart, but I am responsible and hard-working. My school work is also pretty good. My parents had been proud of me, but I easily get nervous on the important tests, so I couldn’t meet their expectation. I always do my homework first, and study by myself for not getting more trouble for my parents. I will go to sleep early if I need to get up early on the next day, and I will not put something on the ground to block others. I also ask others first when I want to borrow something from them, and use it carefully.

Everyone says Connie is smarter and more thoughtful than I, but they just take sides with her. They tolerate what Connie does, but hate what I do. Actually, Connie is successful in her studies because my mother uses my experience as reference. My mother gives Connie different refresher courses from those I took, and they really help Connie’s studies. All my relatives are so fond of Connie because she looks smarter than I and she always put on airs to them.
