Our modern society when compared with the early society is a completely different world. Because of the progress of technology, our life becomes more convenient and better. Especially, the Internet has influenced every part of our life. There are three aspects in which the Internet changes our life: the convenience of living, the shorter distance between people, and the effective way of learning.

First, our life has become more convenient than before. Modern people are busy with their work. Hence, they may not have enough time to shop if they want to buy something. In this situation, the Internet is very useful. People only need to turn on the computer and surf the Net, and then they can buy everything they want. People can also book transportation tickets online. In some important holidays, like Chinese New Year, it is difficult to buy a ticket if people go to the station too late. However, with the Internet, we can do a lot of things such as buying a train ticket and making hotel reservations the limitation of time.

Second, the distance between people is shortened. In the past, we wrote letters to our friends. Sometimes they didn’t receive letters until three days later or more. Particularly, when we sent something to foreign countries, it would take more time. However, we only need to click a button on the computer to send e-mails now. Our friends will receive e-mails right away. To businessmen, they can have a meeting on the Internet. In other words, they do not need to take the plane to other countries to join a meeting personally. The only thing they have to do is to log on to the Internet. Because of the Internet, we can do many tasks without the restriction of distance.

Third, the Internet affects the ways of learning considerably. In the past, if people wanted to get some information, they had to go to the library and spent much time looking for what they needed. Now, they just sit in front of the computer and type the key words on the Internet, and then they will get a lot of information from all over the world in a few seconds. Another example is that some people for certain reasons are unable to attend schools. If they want to learn, they can use the Internet to have distance learning. With the Internet, people can gain more knowledge in a more efficient way.

Our world has become a global village. Through the Internet, people know everything that is happening in every corner of the world immediately. We can connect with others without the constraints of time and place. It seems that we live in the same community. And people all over the world have become family, being connected closely by the Internet.
