Studying in Taiwan or in a Foreign Country

I am a junior in college, which means there is only one year left before my graduation. I have been considering what I am going to do after I graduate from college. Some of my friends decide to keep studying, others choose to get a job, and still others have not figured out what they are going to do. After my consideration, I decided to attend a graduate program in America. There are three reasons that make me choose to study in America instead of in Taiwan. They are the advantages of graduating from the foreign country, knowing more foreigners from different countries, and learning whole new knowledge and cultures.

First, I think there are more advantages if I study in America rather than in Taiwan. In Taiwan, many companies still think that the people who have studied in a foreign country might be better than those who only studied in Taiwan. The payments for those who studied in a foreign country are usually higher than those who studied in Taiwan. We can see that when finding a job, those with a foreign degree have more advantages than those who got a degree in a local graduate school.

There are more foreigners from different countries in America than in Taiwan. I like to make friends from different countries because I want to learn more about different cultures. For example, New York is a big international city and there are various peoples from many different countries living there. I think it is awesome if I can make friends with people from different parts of the world. Therefore, I think it is better to study in America than in Taiwan because I will have chances to visit big cities like New York and get acquainted with peoples from various countries.

It is easier to acquire whole new knowledge and cultures in America than in Taiwan. I am very interested in learning new things and cultures. Some people may think that I can also get in touch with new knowledge in Taiwan. However, I think people from different countries have different views at one thing because everyone grows up in different backgrounds. I would like to compare their thoughts with mine on the same issue. I think I will learn a lot when doing so. As for cultures, I always like to learn about different cultures. So, it is easier for me to learn American cultures if I study in America.

In my opinion, studying in America is better than studying in Taiwan. There are more advantages graduating from a school in a foreign country than from a school in Taiwan. Second, it is easier for me to make friends with people from many different cultural backgrounds. In addition, I can get access to new knowledge and cultures. Therefore, I think I will attend a graduate program in a foreign country after I graduate from college.
