Disadvantages of Being Fat

Willy

The modern society lifestyles and habits differ greatly from the past. Many people like to eat fast food and snacks to as a meal. They are really unhealthy foods to the human body, as fast food or snacks only provide empty calories to our body. We still feel hungry after we eat junk food, and then we may eat much more food to fulfill our desire for food. The other cause of overweight is that people work over time and stay up late. Modern people have a lot of work and stress, because the supervisor always asks the staff to complete many tough jobs. The student also goes to bed very late for playing the online games or doing homework. Both situations hurt our digestive system and immune system. Our digestive system and immune system need to recover at the midnight and the morning, but if we do not sleep on time, our body gets bad and becomes fat. So, what are disadvantages of being overweight? There are three general problems: economic problems, social problems and diseases.

First of all, it is the economic problem. We need to pay more money to sustain the metabolism of our body. Take myself for example. I used to buy a 99 NT dollars fast food dinner, but I still felt hungry, so I added a 40 NT dollars fried chicken and 35 NT dollars bubble milk tea. Totally, I spent 174 NT dollars for a meal; what is more, I would buy some night snack in the night market. This did not only cost much more money but also gain me lots of empty calories.

Second, being overweight would result in an ugly appearance and give others a bad impression when we are in the social occasion or dating with a girl. Most girls shun fat boys, though they will never tell us that we are fat and stupid. It is a pity that we cannot get along with people normally just because we are overly fat.

Third, being excessively fat may cause many diseases. I have experienced gout, a pain on the big toe and foot due to my overweight. When I suffer from gout, I virtually cannot walk. The other problem is the burden to ankles and knees. The reason is that the body weight is too heavy to be afforded. This may not disable me, but it truly affects my daily life.

According to the reasons I have mentioned above, I firmly believe that the negative effects of being overly fat are damaging to our health. We need to fight for our health. Eating wholesome foods and excising regularly is the key to have a healthy life. We shall never give up making efforts to maintain a proper weight.
