The Way to Better Manage My Money

Patrice Wang

I am getting into a lot of debt for my college expenses. And I don’t expect to begin making payment by the time I graduate. Last year, though I lived with my means, I didn’t know where the money went. Therefore, I am decided to make some changes in my financial habits. I find some methods for saving money. There are three ways for me to achieve my goal.

First, I don’t use my credit cards. The credit cards are convenient and handy. After I became used to paying by credit cards, I thought it was a wonderful thing in the world. In fact, however, it is a bad tendency. I was undisciplined in spending freely without checking. Therefore I didn’t have the ability to pay all the debt in the end.

Second, I should find a job that offers a high salary. It’s the common plan for university students. I have done different kinds of job. And I tried to analyze working conditions of these jobs. I not only want to earn good money but also learn plenty of work experience. I think it is the fastest way to get money, and to ease the heavy burden of my family.

Finally, I will use a computer program to keep track of my spending. As is mentioned above, I always forget where I spent money on. I should either economize my budget or keep accounts. This new system helps me know where the money goes. In this way, I am able to control my expense, and use money carefully. For example, when I want to buy some expensive things but I don’t have the money, I will cut back on other expenses to pay for them. In this system, I can plan to spend money and I am not worried that I have no money in the end of a month.

When I use the three good ways, I am a smart spender. I spend money because I have a good feeling from saving money. Unless I stop being such a spendthrift, I am going to get deeper in debt. If I can be more frugal, I will have enough money when I really need it.
