Being Honest Is an Important Quality to Be Successful

People who want to be successful need to be honest. If people are not honest, they will not be successful in their life, and they may lose their customers or friends or family in the end. In my opinion, being honest is one of the most important qualities to be successful. There are three examples to illustrate my point.

The first example is the experience I had when I was a junior high school student. In the junior high school, students always need to do their homework in a group. One day, our teacher gave us an assignment which required discussion in a group. Therefore, we set a time and a place to meet together. But just before meeting, one of our friends said that she was sick, and she could not come. But when we went to the restaurant, we saw her shopping with her friends. In a moment, we felt angry because she was not honest. For a long time, nobody wanted to make a friend with her. In this small incident, she lost her friends. I think she would not be successful in the future because of her dishonesty. When she needs help, no one wants to help her.

Another example of the honesty is about house builders. House builders need to be honest on their job. Some builders are honest; they don’t stint on materials when they build houses. Although they may not be able to earn big fortunes, they can get many things which can’t be bought by money such as trust. For a long time, people know they are honest and like to do business with them and they are likely to be successful in the end.

The best example of the importance of honesty, I think, is the bad oil companies that make fake oil. These companies were very dishonest. They used bad oil to mix with good oil. The bad oil was harmful to people’s health. When the news was reported, these companies needed to pay a lot of compensation and even go to jail for their illegal deeds. The most important thing is they have lost reputation and people’s trust. People will not buy products from them anymore, and they were totally failures.

To sum up, I think it is important to be honest. Although being honest does not guarantee success, being dishonest will definitely lead to failure. If people are dishonest, they will get retribution in the end. Sometimes honest people may not get good result in the beginning, but I believe they will be successful eventually.
