Bad Effects of the Smartphone

Because of the great progress of technology, the smartphone has become extremely popular all over the world. Now, when we walk on the street, we can see that everyone holds a smartphone. With the smartphone, we can do many things that we can do on the personal computer. For example, we used to send text messages for paying about NT$1 to NT$3 before the smartphone appeared, but now, with the Internet service, we can send text messages for free. However, although the smartphone can give us an extremely convenient life, it also bring some negative effects.

First of all, people may become addicted to their cell phone. One famous university announced a research report showing that about 30 to 40 percent of the smartphone users indicated that if they lost their phone they would be very upset. This research suggests that lots of people are too attached to their smartphone.Without the smartphone, they would be very bored and restless.

Second, children don’t play with others but only keep using the smartphone by themselves. Because it’s easy to download games to the smartphone, many children like to ask their parents for a smartphone so that they can play the games. However, this is not a good way to keep children behaved. For playing games too much on cell phone will not only hurt children’s eyes but also may make them lose social capability.

Third, the smartphone may intervene the communication between people. When we walk on the street in any city, we can see that people always keep looking at their smartphone and don’t talk with each other. Once I had dinner with a group of friends when I started to talk about my life in college, what I saw was that they kept their eyes on their phone. I was really upset because no one seemed interested in communicating with others.

Finally, it’s not polite when we use the smartphone in some official occasions. For example, when students are in class, using the smartphone when the teacher is lecturing is not polite. It means that the students don’t concentrate on the teacher;without listening to the teacher’s instructions, students cannot learn effectively in class.

It’s true that the smartphone can bring us extremely convenient life. But sometimes I just hope that we can put down our smartphone, the tablet and any other technology device, and by spending some time with our friends and our family, we can notice that our affections can never be replaced by the smartphone.
