My Eighteenth Birthday

Sheena Yang

I thought my eighteenth birthday is the most unforgettable experience in my life. We had a tradition to give a person a big surprise on his or her 18th birthday party, so I was excited about what would happen on my birthday. On that day, my friends told me that they asked me to have a lunch with them. But they didn’t give me any surprise after we finished the meal. They only gave me a small card and a small cake. Actually I was very depressed because I thought I could have a wonderful birthday party. I didn’t let them feel that I was disappointed because they didn’t forget my birthday at least. When this party was over my friends said all of them had something to do so they couldn’t go out with me. I went home alone with a bad mood. In the evening, my bother said that he wanted to drive me to a place but I had to cover my eyes with a towel. And ten minutes later someone opened the door and pulled me out from the car. I was sacred and didn’t know what happened because I still couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, someone took my hand and walked for a while. I asked him “Who are you? And what do you want to do?” for many times, but he didn’t answer me. Suddenly, he stopped walking and someone took away the towel which was used to cover my eyes. At this time, I saw a road which was decorated with by candles and all of my friends stood on it with birthday cards and flowers on their hands. I couldn’t help crying because I was so touched. I walked through the candle road and everyone hugged me and said happy birthday to me. In that time, I felt I was the happiest girl in the world. I was so glad I have those wonderful friends in my life and this was the most unforgettable birthday I have ever had.
