“He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander” —Aristotle. Nowadays, many people think they can be a good leader because of having good performance in some activity or acting an important person in some events. However, a good leader does not need to have any awesome experience or to be almighty. In my opinion, a good leader should have three characteristics: affinity, and ability of inspiring and delegation.

Affinity comes from our communication skill. If everyone comfortably communicates with us, we have affinity. In contrast, if we have trouble talking with everyone or interacting with them, we cannot have good interpersonal relationships. Affinity does not come from our prestige. If people communicate with us because of our high social status or wealth, they will not pay genuine respect to us. What they care is our personality. Affinity--stemming from pleasant and well rounded personality—plays an important role of being a good leader.

Ability of inspiring is vital for anyone who wants to be a good leader. In the group, compliment is more powerful than condemnation. And always inspiring the team to see the vision of successes is necessary. Everyone likes to hear the praise, and no one likes to stay in a demoralized team. For example, I had joined the Welcome Party. The leader of the Welcome Party liked to blame his group members rather than applaud them, which caused low attendance rate. The other example is our senior play. At the beginning, everyone was tired to do anything for the senior play. While we were doing something together, everyone fell asleep. However, the director of the senior plays did not spur us, so the morale was obviously low. If we want to be a good leader, we need to raise our ability of inspiring.

The last one is the most important one—delegation. Delegation is established in trust. Finessing our brand vision is vital for creating an efficient group. In my mind, a leader is not like a parent. They do not need to control everything or everybody, but they should trust every person. If we do not learn how to trust our teammate, we might never progress to the next stage. If we find out what our team member enjoy doing most, it can make our team more efficient.

To sum up, being a good leader is not an easy task. Many people consider that if a person good relationship with people, he or she should have ability of being a good leader. Actually, it is totally wrong. Delegation is a difficult mission for anyone. Ability of inspiring is a quality which is hard to develop. To be a good leader, One must learn to develop many desirable qualities.
