One Memorable Night of the Fourth of July

Anita

The fourth of July is never an ordinary date in the United States' calendar. It is the day when people get together with friends and families to celebrate the birth of the nation. To me, it is like a real festival because I have had many good memories about this special day. I clearly remember the night when my cousins and I spent time celebrating the National Day with joy and gaiety in the big stadium. Countless people were also enjoying themselves with food and drinks and great shows. It is probably the most awesome night I have had experienced in my life so far.

I was really excited about this day because everything was fresh to me. Indeed, I have never joined in the National Day in other countries before. After we arrived at the stadium in the evening, the first thing I saw was that numerous people had set their tents and stuff on the grass outside the stadium. They looked really cheerful! After a while when we entered the stadium, we were joined by tens of thousands people. I felt truly amazed because I had never seen so many people gather in the same place at the same time. Also, people were all crazy about the show after it began. My cousins told me that they came here every year when they were kids. It was a place full of happiness and joy.

I could feel the prevailing patriotic atmosphere in this big stadium. During one of the shows, the moment when the national anthem was sung by the singers, many flags of red, white and blue in different sizes gradually appeared from the spectators. I suddenly felt that how patriotic American people were. A strong patriotic feeling was surging inside me. In addition, even though my cousins never told me their love for the country, I knew they loved it very much. Thus, I was really glad and fortunate to have the chance to celebrate this big day with those passionate people.

I will remember this awesome night for the rest of my life. At the end of the show, the brilliant fireworks began to light up the night sky in the perfect weather. People in and outside of the stadium were all shouting with joy. In my eyes, those fireworks were so splendid in the dark night. To be honest, I was so cheerful that I had a great time with my cousins and other people since it was like the whole nation was united and people were all in a state of patriotism. Everyone was pleased to be part of such a great event. Michael Jeffery once said, "When all your attention is on the fireworks, you forget there is empty sky in which the fireworks appear." I could actually realize the meaning of his words when we were all together under this glorious sky. And a genuinely holy feeling emerged from my mind, making me appreciate this wonderful scene greatly.

We are sitting in the shade today because the pioneer planted a tree a long time ago. If those pioneers did not devote themselves and do many great things, it is impossible for us to have such a good living now. The 4th of July was a thought-provoking day to me because I was inspired by the strong patriotic atmosphere and how people acted on this day. Moreover, I think that was why I chose English as my major because I wanted to know more about the people and history of this great nation. To sum up, it was the best night I have ever experienced so far. I will never forget it!
