Three Types of Contact Lenses

Lynn Chang

Nowadays, many people like to wear contacts than wear glasses. Because wearing contacts is more convenient than wearing glasses. But now, contact’s function is no longer just for convenience; it also makes people look more beautiful or different. There are three types of contacts that my friends and I usually wear.

The first type is the ordinary contact. That’s what most people usually wear. Their surface is ocean blue and transparent.

The second type of contact lenses is circle lens. As implied by the name, it has a black or brown circle on the contact. It gives the wearer larger, blacker and shinier eyes like those of a doll or anime character. This kind of contacts came from Japan and it’s very popular in young people. Now, not only Japanese but also many Asian girls like to wear circle lens. Besides, more and more boys also wear them to make them look better. In my point of view, some circle lens wearers are looks strange and a little bit unnatural but some people are really suitable to wear them.

The finial type is called color lens or cosmetic lens. These contacts have a variety of colors and designs. People who love costume play will use those lenses to make them look more effective. For example, they can be a vampire with red eyes or a zombie with white eyes. But most people just want to change their looks, not so dramatic change. As a result, they usually choose color lens which is more natural but still can turn their eye color into natural green, blue, gray or brown. Many models or celebrities in Taiwan love to wear color lens. For example, the singer, Jolin, wore blue lenses in her last album’s cover photo. Also, a popular model, Tia, usually wears brown color lenses in magazines.

People can change their looks or style by wearing different lenses or make up. I think those contact lenses are very useful and interesting. But the most important is to protect our eyes correctly, so we can change our looks easily and see everything clearly. That’s the most important function of our eyes.
