My Future Plan

Howie

Every senior in the university will face a problem: to continue studying in a graduate school or find a job? Somebody goes to a graduate school because they believe that they can learn more from the school. As for the others, they choose to start their career by finding a job. There are both pros and cons for choosing either path; thus, we should consider this matter seriously.

If I find a job after I graduate, I could learn more social experiences. There are a lot of differences between a school and a workplace with respect to the way I meet people, communicating with others and the stuff I should work hard on, among others. Another major difference is that we have started to earn money by ourselves. Most people with financial problems would choose to start working. Take my brother for example. He went to a cram school to be a teacher after he graduated. He already makes more money than other people the same age. He told me that he had learned a lot from the career, especially in dealing with his boss. This is not something we can learn from school.

If I want to learn more about some particular knowledge, I would go to a graduate school. And there are too many statements revealing that college graduates don’t get good jobs. Research has shown the average payment people get on the first job is only twenty-two thousand dollars. It’s definitely not enough for most people because there are a lot of things we have to pay for in our daily life. Going to a graduate school means that I could get more knowledge and a higher degree, so it’s a long-term plan for my future.

After having pondered over this matter for a long time, I consider that going to the graduate school will be the best choice for me. I think it is more important to gain knowledge to equip myself sufficiently and get prepared for the situation I might face in the future. Getting a job is a good choice, but it’s hard to find an ideal job right after I graduate from college. Even though I could still learn things from the workplace, I think keeping studying will give me more benefits. As a saying goes, “Knowledge is power.”
