Working on a Team vs. Working Independently

My high school would hold the sport events every year. There were many sport items for us to choose. If we did not want to do sports, we could be cheerleaders. I am not good at sports so I chose to be the cheering people. I love team work because it can make me know how hard we work together in the group. My high school experiences made me realize that team work has many advantages. There are three major reasons for my commitment to team work.

First, there were many ideas when we discussed with our classmates. For example, we should think what we wore on the stage because the school said if we dressed neatly we could get high scores. In order to get high scores everyone thought hard. Someone said to dress like a prince and a princess. Others suggested that we dress like an animal. After discussing we decided to wear the clothes that could show who we were. It was a lot of fun discussing what to wear at the sport events. By contrast, if we had worked independently we would not have got so many creative ideas.

Second, we could deal with many things quickly. Someone who is good at designing clothes started to draw the picture after we decided to make the clothes. And other people started to make some tools which we needed in the events. We finished the tools within two weeks! I could not believe that we could complete the work so quickly. Contrastively, if we had made all the tools by ourselves, we could not have finished the work so fast.

Third, we could learn from our classmates. Everyone has his or her specialty. Some people are good at drawing. Other people are good at dancing or singing. And we could learn from one another. For example, we can learn how to get along with each other or how they solve the problem. But if we had worked on our own we could not have learned from our classmates.

We got high scores at the sport event. We were happy because it was our first time to get high scores. And I believe that it was because we collaborate with everyone and helped each other when we had some troubles. I could feel how wonderful this honor was. This experience made me realize that there are many benefits to work with a group of people.
