Tokyo and Taipei

Ivy Liu

My aunt really likes to travel to Japan. She always buys many presents for us from Japan. She also talks about things about Japan. I think we can learn something from Tokyo. Although both Tokyo and Taipei are prosperous, they are different in traffic, environment, and food.

Transportation in Tokyo is as convenient as Taipei’s. There are also taxis and buses in Tokyo; however, there is some difference. Taipei has the MRT. Tokyo has Shinkansen. People in Tokyo can use Shinkansen to go to another place fast and on time. Shinkansen is just like High Speed Rail Road in Taiwan. The construction of High Speed Rail Road is modeled on Shinkansen. Both the MRT and Shinkansen are very convenient and we will not be caught in the traffic jams.

People who have been to Tokyo know that the environment in Tokyo is very clean and neat. My aunt even told me that there isn’t any garbage in the street in Tokyo. This is very different from Taipei. Honestly, I think Taipei’s streets are very dirty and messy. Many people in Taipei lack social morality; they throw trash casually. As far as I know, Japanese have the environmental consciousness. I think we can learn this point from Japanese.

Taipei has a lot of delicious and special foods. For instance, stinky tofu, oyster omelet, rice noodles, and so on. I think Japanese foods emphasize on freshness. The most typical Japanese food is sashimi and the sushi. Hand-pulled noodles and donburi are also famous foods.

Although both Tokyo and Taipei are prosperous, they are different in traffic, environment, and food. I hope one day I can travel to Tokyo. I know there are many beautiful places we can visit in Tokyo. Although both Tokyo and Taipei are in Asia, they are different in many ways. I want to experience the special lifestyles in Tokyo some day.
