Otaku

The word “otaku” originally means the people who specialize in animations, comics, and computer games. Recently, Otaku generally refers to the people who specialize in and have deep understanding in sub-culture. Although people often have a bad view on Otaku, I think this kind of people still has three advantages: being good at any one of the above special areas, using a good way to relax, and creating a huge opportunity.

Otaku are good at animations, comics, and computer games because they always spend time on these things. If someone chats with Otaku about these issues, they may spend hours expressing their opinions. Don’t doubt it; I had some experience about talking with them. Maybe animations, comics, and games were considered bad things, but we can’t deny about their professional abilities.

Otaku always choose to watch animations and comics when they want to relax themselves. Compared to those who use the violent way to relieve their pressure, Otaku’s behaviors are more acceptable, although watching animations and comics may cause Otaku to stay at home, and lack interaction with others.

A successful comic or animation usually causes a hot topic. Besides, something about it will become very popular. For example, an animation or a comic becomes popular because it’s very interesting. Then more and more fans begin to collect its peripheral products. Once I was fascinated with The Major, which is a famous comic, and I spent a great deal of money collecting products about The Major.

I think Otaku are only a group of people who like animations, comics, and games so they should not be treated with colored eyes. Otaku also have their advantages although most people don’t like these kinds of things, such as animations, comics, etc. In my opinion, even if we don’t agree to what Otaku like or do, we should respect their hobbies or interests.
