The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The story is about four brothers and sisters, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, coming to Narnia through the magic wardrobe accidentally. Narnia is a country covered by the snow all the time. It is controlled by the White Witch until Aslan, the lion, comes back and helps them to withstand the White Witch. During the process of fighting, they face many difficult problems; however, they resolve them step by step. At last, they win.

This is one of The Chronicles of Narnia. It has also been remade into a movie. However, I think the novel is more exciting than the movie. When I watched the movie, I would focus on the scene, the sound effect, or other special effects. But when I read the novel, I needed to use my imagination. There were some scenes coming into my head, especially different words for showing various kinds of feeling.

Among the four sisters and brothers, I like Lucy the most. She is the youngest, but she is also brave like the others. Because of her inquisitiveness, she is the first one to find the magic wardrobe. When she tells the magic wardrobe to her brothers and sister, they don’t believe until they come to Narnia. I think the author tries to tell us not to lose the original and pure mind. As we grow up gradually, we tend to become more practical and rational. We lose innocence and imagination, and always make things complicated. I think the author wants readers to face life with imagination and curiosity.

Aslan is second only to Susan that I like. We used to think lion is dangerous and fearful. In the story, Aslan is kind and selfless. He tries to save all the animals from the White Witch. He doesn’t hesitate to use his own life to change the lives of all the animals. If I were him, I would not do what he did. No wonder he becomes the hero in the story.

I had thought the novel would be boring before I read it. I was afraid there would be many words that I couldn’t understand. But when I read it, I found the reading is not like what I thought. It was not really difficult. I was interested in the story instead of feeling tedious. The more I read, the more different feelings I got. Sometimes, I felt sorrow from the story. My feeling would follow the story up and down virtually. It’s really amazing for me. It made me want to come to Narnia to adventure.
