Types of Housekeepers

My family is a big family consisting of many nuclear families. Several years ago, we lived in a big quadrangle dwelling together. From my childhood to youth, I’d like to seek players from one room to another in this big Chinese-style mansion. Also, I’ve found distinctive styles of their rooms and observed different characteristics of their housekeepers. According to my observation, the housekeepers in the compound could be classified into three types: lazy Mahjong addicts, ordinary housewives， and diligent maids.

The first type is lazy Mahjong addicts who never clean their house. Most of them are mahjong fanatics or even superiors. All they care about is how much money they will win from their opponents. During a day, they only cook, wash the dishes and then rush to the mahjong room like an arrow. They never care about how thick the dirt on the tea table or how disgusting the musty dustbin in the kitchen smells. To them, entertainment and money are the most important. How could the cleanliness of the room be compared to these? Was there any chance I could witness them doing house cleaning? Of course not! Only when some guests came to these lazy Mahjong addicts’ houses could I witness such rare wonders.

The second type is ordinary housewives who clean their houses on a regular basis and live a peaceful life. On the day of cleaning, they get up early and start their work: putting children’s toys in order, cleaning out the closets, sweeping the floor and then mopping the floor. Sometimes, they have to mow the grass in the yard. What’s more, during the process of doing cleanings, they have to prepare the family’ meals. When they finish doing those never-ending household chores, they would always sigh with relief and smiles bloomed on their face. They are such a group of people who not only see the beauty of life but also arrange their life in beauty.

The last type of housekeepers is like diligent maids who clean their houses incessantly. The frequency of their housework could catch up with the speaking speed of Ellen in The Ellen DeGeneres Show. You can hardly imagine how diligent these maids are. Once they see a wisp of hair stuck on the sofa, they would immediately fetch the tweezers to get rid of it without hesitation. These housekeepers care about the cleanliness more than anything else. They attach great importance to the house they live in and the surrounding environment that they are exposed to every day. They appreciate the spotless and dirt free environment and they always manage to keep it that way.

From childhood to youth, I enjoy observing these housekeepers’ life styles and categorizing these women into different types accordingly. And I realize that people tend to live a life that reveals their predilections and habits.
