The Memory of My First Part-time Job

Rachel Wu

I remember that when I graduated from senior high school last summer, and I had thought of many goals which I wanted to achieve. As I went home, my parents sat on the chair and told me sincerely. “You must go to find a job in order to pay the tuition of your university. “My father frowned and his eyebrows looked like the raised runway. Of course I couldn't refuse, so I had no choice but to say yes. My friend recommended me a restaurant. Then I made an appointment to interview with the manager. That day, I saw a middle-aged man who sat on a sofa, and his head was filled with white hair. When he was talking to me, I found he was an arrogant person. He just taught me the service tips and constantly boasted himself how much the experience he had seen. In fact, I didn't want to stay there to listen to his unimportant achievement. I looked around the small and narrow restaurant. I couldn't imagine that what it would be like to be a waitress here. Originally, I thought the job was easy to handle. After three days, I had to say sorry for the immature thought to myself. The errand was so tiring. I couldn't accept the numerous customers who just came in and didn’t eat. I had not enough strength to move the dishes piled up like a mountain, etc. So many things I had never faced before. Even so, I learned the right attitude to treat people and the way to solve problems and release stress through this hard job.
