The Effects of My Doing a Part-time Job

There are a lot of benefits to do a part-time job to me. For example, I can learn to adapt early in the workplace. Doing the part-time job, I can earn money, learn to manage time, and improve the relationship with others.

The first beneficial effect is I can reduce the economic pressure of my family. Also, I can save some money to pay for my student loan by doing a part-time job. Before I have the part-time job, my parents gave me living expenses every month and paid the rent for me. But now, I can pay the bills by myself, and I don’t need the financial support of my parents. I’m proud of myself and at ease with my financial situation.

Because I’m doing the part-time job, my life becomes busier. I have to learn how to manage my time for doing both the job and the school work. Before doing the part-time job, I had a lot of free time. I could do the reports or other things slowly or hang out with my friends every day. But now, I need to finish everything within a certain period of time. If I can’t finish a thing in time, I will delay the next thing that I have to do. I had wanted to quit my part-time job at first because I thought that I put too many things on my plate. After a while, I understand I need to stand up to the test of life by overcoming my habit of procrastination.

I work in the service industry. I usually face a lot of customers’ emotional problems. The job is very advantageous to improve my problem-solving skill. It’s a very useful skill in the workplace. I have to understand the customers’ emotional problems and figure out the best way to solve them. It’s not easy to appease the irrational customers with the right conversation. Also, it’s helpful for me to adapt early in the workplace and learn to accommodate the pressure of the workplace.

In my opinion, if the college students work a part-time job, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. I can not only earn money but also learn to manage time well and enhance problem-solving skills. I had wanted to give up doing the part-time job because it took a lot of time and mental as well as physical efforts. But now, I’m glad that I kept on doing the part-time job.
