Going to the Movie Theater or Renting DVD

Nowadays, seeing a movie is one of the important entertainments to people. Although both going to the theater and renting DVD can satisfy people when they want to see a movie in their free time or in vacation, there are still some differences between seeing the movie in the theater and on the DVD that may affect people's choice of a movie to enjoy.

First, the price sometimes can be the primary concern when people make a choice. If people drive a car or ride a motorcycle to the theater, they have to find a parking lot and pay the cost of parking. It is not always easy to get a parking space, and the cost may not be cheap, especially in the downtown area. Normally, the movie tickets are double the price than DVD rentals. In addition, the snacks and food in the shop of the theater are often more expensive and less various than ordinary shops. Due to that, if people see a movie in the theater, they may spend tripled price than seeing the movie on DVD in their home.

Second, the atmosphere is also a very important deciding factor to movie lovers. Some people think the sound effects and screen in the theater are more attractive and exciting. Sometimes, people enjoy sharing the feeling of laughing and screaming with other spectators in front of a big screen. On the other hand, some people feel comfortable and focused when they see a movie in home because they can sit on the soft sofa in the clean environment with whatever poses they like to have. However, many people cannot wait to see the newest movies which they look forward to for a long time so they will go to the theater rather than wait for the release of the DVD.

Finally, the time for showing movies may influence people's choices. We know every theater has set schedules for showing each movie. People have to check the time and buy tickets before the movie is showing. It will be annoying if the showing time of a movie does not match people's schedules. Unlike seeing movies in the theater, people can decide whenever they want to see the movie on the DVD. The most important is that people can pause the DVD if they want to go to the toilet or answer a phone call in the middle of seeing a movie, while people cannot do those things in the movie theater without missing some part of movie.

To sum up, both going to the movie theater and renting DVD have their merits. The price of the tickets, the atmosphere of the place and the convenience of the time will affect people's decision. That is why both theaters and DVD store are trying so hard to reform so that they can attract consumers. People can pay lower prices and stay in their sweet home to see a movie with a rented DVD. Alternatively, they can experience special effects and appealing images with 3D movies in the movie theater.
