Going to a Graduate School or Finding a Job

When I was a freshman, I thought I must go to a graduate school after graduation. At that time, I felt I would find a better job with an ideal salary if I got a higher degree. However, I have totally changed my plan for my future now. In these past three years, I have known that some young people who graduated from college and started their business have become successful with their creativity and professional knowledge. What a surprise! Some famous people like Steve Job and Mark Zuckerberg didn’t finish their college. These inspiring examples led me to have a different career plan. Thinking over and over, I feel finding a job after graduation is more suitable for me than going to a graduate school because of the issues of experiences, time, and money.

First, I can get more experience by doing a job. I have been a student for fifteen years. I thought being a student is the easiest thing in the world. Most students’ experiences are to do well on tests and to graduate from school. Furthermore, what we students need to do in the school is to get the knowledge as possible as we can. Thus, being a graduate student will not be different from being a college student for me. In contrast, if I find a job, I can gain a lot of experience from the workplace. My parents don’t approve that I find a part-time job during school except in vacations. They think we just focus on what we arelearning and we can get useful profession skill. Therefore, I prefer to work because I don’t know whether I can timely utilize my professional knowledge in the job or not. I can try to use my professional skills for desirable job, get performances, and learn experiences from any success and failure. I feel these experiences will be very different from students’ experiences.

Second, I want to make the best use of my time. Many things in life are just a chance. I have already spent much time in being a student. As we can predict, the graduate students will use most of their time on their research papers. They spend much time on getting knowledge or discussing some specific topicsdeeply. On the other hand, those who have a job use their time for making the business better than before, earning money and getting promotion. They try to use their time to build good abilities for work or a large group of people. Thus, I want to devote my time to my job because the views students have are totally different from those of workers.

The most important thing of all is money because I don’t want to be in debt. If I study in a graduate school, I need to earn money to pay for the graduate school or have a student loan. I know some people are lucky that their parents provide them money for a graduate school. However, my family could not affordit, so going to a graduate school won’t be my choice. In contrast, if I find a job, I can earn money. If I really want to go to a graduate school, I can wait until I have enough money. Furthermore, I am able to reduce my parents’ pressure from money. They only need to pay tuition for my younger brother.

To sum up, I have made a decision to find a job after graduation because I want to gain more different experiences, make the best use of my time without any regret, and earn money by myself. Now, I must work hard and build a solid foundation for my future. I hope I can get a good and suitable job after graduation, learn from the work, get work experience, and earn money by myself to reduce my parents’ financial burden. I look forward to a wonderful future.
