Three Types of People Who Play Facebook

Joy Lee

Some people felt it was not enough to know foreigners through e-mails. So they created some websites to help people get closer to their friends. Now, Facebook is the most popular social intercourse website. Most people have their own Facebook now. There are different reasons for people to play Facebook, such as meeting more friends, playing the games, etc.  Most of my friends have Facebook, and they also have some different reasons for their playing Facebook. I classify my friends who play Facebook into three types— the curious, the followers, and the fun lovers.

The first type is curious people. It means some of my friends play Facebook because they have strong curiosity to know what it is. No matter if it is useful or not, they just want to try this new and popular website. I remember when Facebook just appeared, those friends applied for it quickly. A few days later, they started to tell others they already had had Facebook and how they felt about it.

The second type of my friends who play Facebook can be called followers. They play it because they are affected by those who have already been playing it. Most of my friends are of this kind. They sometimes get the message from someone who asked them to join Facebook via e-mails or hear somebody always talk about it and ask them to join it. However, they easily feel bored at not only the games but also the functions after a few months.

The last type is fun lovers. Some of my friends, especially those who are much younger than I play Facebook because they just want to play the games. They don’t want to meet new friends; they just play the games for fun. They think it is just a new game to play. They don’t care about the main function or the purpose.

I found there is an interesting phenomenon for my friends who play Facebook. Fun type friends have the most friends on their list; on the other hand, Curiosity type friends only have a few friends on their list. I think the fun type friends include others on their list because the games have more fun when they are played by more people. But since they are not familiar with each other, they have more fun playing them. In short, most of my friends have Facebook. And I think it is an interesting thing to classify into these three types according to their reasons for playing it.
